Dawson’s Black Mouth Curs is located in Buna, Texas, next to the Big Thicket area of Southeast Texas. All our breeding stock has to exhibit the natural instincts to be exceptional. I breed my dogs to have the desire to choose hunting game over the desire to do anything else. I breed for Drive, Temperament, Intelligence, Working ability, Heart, and Athleticism. I want my dogs to have enough grit, leg, and bottom to run down the nastiest boar hog anywhere and anytime. In short that is what I am breeding for. I am looking for the best big game dogs out there. If I find out someone is potentially breeding better dogs for what I want, I don’t have too much pride to show up on his/her door step. Remember folks it isn’t about me, it’s about having the best dogs possible. That is my philosophy and I live by those words. It isn't enough to just have a dog that will bay a hog, the dog has to be able to 1) find the hog, 2) stay hooked with the hog, 3) stop the hog, 4) keep the hog bayed until you get there.. The only way to get dogs that consistenly have the ability to do this is the specifically line breed for these traits. Having a dog that will bay in a pen tells you nothing about what a dog will do in the woods. I will not lie to you to sell you a pup. If I don’t think what I have will suit your needs, I will tell you so. I expect you would do the same for me.
